This is Ankoruni (picture taken from PingMag). He loves drinking, and he is a regular at the local monster bar. But he also enjoys long walks on the beach, sunsets, and is a good listener. Not convinced yet? Well, you don’t need to be, because there are a number of other monsters out there.
PingMag carries an interview with Atsushi Tomura, a monster-builder for a show (?) called ‘Picopico’. The interview is actually not that informative and most of the links lead to Japanese pages which are, sadly, indecipherable for me…but there are more monster pictures, so go and take a look.
However, I’d love to have one (Or two. Or three!) of those costumes. They are really amazing and seem to be really sturdy and durable. Don’t ask me what I would do with them – probably wear them in front of the TV, do the dishes, and generally hang out. Just imagine walking by a house, peeking an occasional, sideways peek into the window, and see Ankoruni sitting on the couch, having a beer, watching the 8-o’clock news. Hilarious.
On the other hand, could there be an escapist fantasy building up in some hollow and dark recess of my brain… maybe I want to be a cartoon monster. Hmmm… maybe not.
